Cathy Hao read for her bachelor's degree at Jinzhou Medical University and holds an M.A. in English Translation from Nanjing University of Science and Technology. She scored 8.0 overall on IELTS.
She previously worked as a translator and regulatory specialist at an imported-medical-device company in Beijing, handling the full Chinese translation of German, American and Japanese original-manufacturer devices across four product lines — imaging, in-vitro diagnostics, interventional implants and orthopaedic implants — some 300 technical documents in all. She took sole charge of translating the core NMPA registration filings: product technical requirements, instructions for use, labelling, risk management reports and clinical evaluation data, supporting 15 products through to registration certificates, three of them Class III devices. She built and maintained a glossary of more than 8,000 terms that reconciled manufacturer usage with Chinese regulatory language, which measurably cut rework on later filings; and she interpreted at 60 technical and manufacturer-training sessions, including three years of international medical-device trade fairs. Before that she taught English at New Oriental Education, teaching original-language secondary school material wholly in English.
At The Peng Law she works on H-1B petitions and marriage-based green card cases — gathering and organising the record, preparing and checking the USCIS forms, and handling day-to-day contact with the client, carrying cases forward alongside the team.
